Talk About Polymer Lithium Battery Life & Overcharge Problem

In general, how long is the lithium battery life?

Will the polymer lithium battery life affect your purchase? Compared with other lithium ion batteries, lithium polymer batteries are smaller, lighter, more safer and have a higher power capacity. But we all know that each battery has a limited lifespans. Well, How long can a LiPo battery last?

Normally, The life of lipo batteries are about 3 to 5 years with over 300 times cycle life. The cycle life is the number of complete charge/discharge cycles that the battery is able to support before that its capacity falls under 80% of it’s original capacity.
Most LiPo batteries are not rated to last longer than 300 charge cycles. Actually, measuring a LiPo battery’s lifespan may not be practical, as batteries go through varying depths of discharge when they are used. In any case, a LiPo battery could be past its useful lifespan when its capacity has declined to about 80% of its original capacity.

Are Polymer Lithium Batteries Overcharged?

Each lithium polymer batteries built with BMS/ PCB protection board, which could protect battery from over discharge, over charge, over current and short circuit. BMS charge current are designed according to the device and the battery spec, when charge the battery and the current is higher than charger current, the BMS will shut down the charging process to protect the battery and your device. And when the battery is full charged, it will stop charging to protect battery.

Are Lithium Polymer Batteries Safe?

Lithium polymer batteries have imporved safety and stable performance. They are generally robust and flexible, especially when it comes to the size and shape of their configuration. They are also light weight and high energy density, and have a lower chance of suffering from leaking electrolyte.
